Jigsaw Foundation has awarded a grant for social events to the residents’ community group at Chatburn Court in Culcheth.
Chatburn Court is a scheme for the over 55s, with several residents over the age of 80. Due to their frailty, many residents are unable to attend events in the community. As a result, they spend most days alone in their flats.
The residents’ community group received £950 in funding from Jigsaw Foundation to organise in-house social events throughout the year. These include historical guest speakers, fish ‘n’ chip suppers, arts and crafts sessions and Blossom Bunch – a group activity to plant up summer tubs for their communal garden.
This is a great opportunity for residents to regularly socialise as they can invite friends, family and members of the community to join them. The aim is to reduce the social isolation experienced by those residents who find it difficult to get out.
Jigsaw Foundation team employees, Samantha Hornsby and Claudine Harrison–Draper, recently attended the scheme’s 1950s-style afternoon tea. The event was well attended with residents who were not able to attend in person enjoying an afternoon tea delivery instead.
Jigsaw Foundation is an exciting new fund to support local projects run by charities, resident and community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and partner agencies.
All funding for our Adactus Housing Association areas has now been allocated for 2019. However, we will be accepting applications for next year’s funding in January 2020. Tenants will vote on funding of up to £25,000 through Jigsaw Rewards. The Jigsaw Homes Group’s Executive team will approve entries over this amount.
Jigsaw Rewards allows Jigsaw Homes’ residents the opportunity to provide regular feedback on our services and plans for the future. In return, you will receive points which you can exchange for gift vouchers or credits on your rent account.
