Win a Prize in our Black History Month Creative Competition

Win a Prize in our Black History Month Creative Competition

Throughout October, we are commemorating Black History Month, the annual celebration of history, achievements and contributions of black people in the UK.  Its aim is to help communities challenge racism and educate themselves and others about the history that was not taught in schools.  Events celebrating African and Caribbean cultures are taking place across the country until October 31st

We are inviting everyone of any age – residents, schools, community groups and individuals – to take part in a celebration of this month with a Creative Competition.

This can be on anything you think that best captures Black History Month, from your own experiences, to those who inspire you or people you think have made a difference.

You can do this in with a poem, a drawing, a painting, a short story, photography – the choice is yours.

The deadline for entries is 12 noon on Tuesday 3rd November. Please send them with your name, address, contact number and e-mail to info@jigsawhomes.org.uk with the subject line BHM Creative Competition.

Or you can post your entry to us at BHM Creative Competition, Jigsaw Homes Group, 249 Cavendish Street, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 7AT.

All entries will be judged by members of Jigsaw Homes Group’s Equality Street group and the winner will receive a prize of a £30 voucher from a supermarket, bookstore or retailer of their choice.

We look forward to seeing your creative pieces!
